Ice Memory Foundation was in China over the last week: Jérôme Chappellaz, chairman of Ice Memory and Carlo Barbante, vice chairman of Ice Memory, took part to a workshop in Lanzhou, co-organized by the Ice Memory Foundation and by the State key laboratory of cryospheric science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The event was entitled “International Workshop on Ice Core Research in a Warming World: Bridging Polar Regions and High Mountains” and gathered tens of scientists from China and abroad, involved in ice core science at high altitudes and high latitudes.
Chinese scientists expressed a strong enthusiasm for the mission and objectives of Ice Memory.
Member of the Chinese academy of sciences and former vice-chairman of IPCC Qin Dahe, also member of the strategic board of the Ice Memory Foundation, was very supportive.
We have good hopes that China becomes a strong partner of Ice Memory and contributes heritage ice cores in the near future from the strategic #ThirdPole made of glaciers of mountain ranges around the Tibetan Plateau.
