The Ice Memory team will advocate at UNOC3 in Nice where France, Tajikistan and UNESCO representatives will launch the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences (2025-2034). The Ice Memory Foundation continues to call the international scientific and political community to action, to mobilize stakeholders.
From the Arctic to the Andes, from the Alps to the Himalayas, the Memory of World Heritage Glaciers can still be saved. Many glaciers are located in remote or sensitive areas, where global cooperation ensures that the collection can continue despite logistical, environmental, economic or geopolitical issues. This is why international cooperation is crucial. We must join forces across borders to protect these archives before they disappear.

The scale of these challenges transcends national borders and a rapid and coordinated action is needed:
  • to contribute to the efforts of an international coordination,
  • to support and facilitate, through diplomacy, logistics and assistance to their scientific community, the access to the glaciers by national or international scientific teams to extract ice-cores
  • to establish a long-term governance of the Ice Memory heritage in Antarctica
