Why now?
In 2026, the average temperature increase will reach 1.65 °C, exceeding the targets set by the Paris Agreement, which aim to limit this increase to 1.5 °C by the end of the century. This is accelerating the melting of glaciers worldwide and leading to the loss of our planet’s memory. It is more urgent than ever to act now to preserve this ice memory. For some of them, it is already too late.
Ice memory requires human resources and complex logistics. This necessitates significant budgets.

Cost of a drilling operation, expeditions of up to 2 months with often more than 50 people: around 1M€ each expedition
Ice cores transportation to Concordia Ice Memory Sanctuary with a 2,5 months icebreaker journey and flights from the coast to the heart of Antarctica: 2 M€ in total
